I agree. If I try to judge the Director's Cut remakes as better or worse I'd drive myself batty. The originals are so seared into my psyche that there's no uprooting them now. I take the new ones for what they are and let them find their own path.
Here's the Director's Cut. It's certainly watchable/listenable. But It's an example of not all rewrites are better. I think the original is far more compelling and engaging.
