Been interested in music and audio all my life, and both give me great pleasure. Enjoying music and audio gear with good friends and comrades is a key motivation for pursuing my interests. I do write a column for Positive Feedback Online entitled "The Neoteric Listener" where I convey my experience with playback equipment from a newcomer's point of view.

Haven't checked in here for awhile, but I'm glad Tomaz is still posting cool music. I've been thinking about how the site seems to have become a bit dormant, which is a pity because it was so much fun when it was on the rise and everybody was contributing. I can't imagine why an audio site built on the premise of being friendly and informative isn't more popular or able to retain a loyal following. Could it be that audio blogs and boards only thrive when posters rank on each other and compete to squirrel out the most insidious "insider" gossip? I hope not.

Tried to add a discussion, but failed. Let's try here:
Inspired by Michael Mercer's latest column, What albums do you enjoy spinning during the summer? Not talking about release date, just ones that seem to get more airplay at home when it's warm? Here are a few of mine that come to mind:
Wall of Voodoo reminded me of this for some odd reason....Must be summer!

The new wave synth pop collective Men Without Hats were formed in 1980 by brothers Ivan and Stefan Doroschuk. Ivan was the leader of the group, writing the majority of the songs and providing the lead vocals; Stefan was the guitarist; and other members changed frequently throughout the course of t ...
Finally able to check in and catch up with all the videos. Nice to see some new members adding great music to the mix, too! Always fun buying new music when the summer's here, so keep the suggestions coming...
Started off the day preparing for the Bonnie Raitt concert I'll be taking the missus and friends to at the end of summer, just ripping all the CDs into iTunes and letting fly. Moved on to Air's Pocket Symphony, which inspired me to download a couple of Gong albums I hadn't heard in years. Now I'm listening to Michael's pick Daniel Martin Moore and Joan Shelley's newest (downloaded, no CD because I
Yay! Computer's back in the system, and I'm running three DACs, and there'd be four if I hadn't of run out of usb cables. Glad the missus is out with friends for the evening so she can't see my insanity! :)
Inadvertently deleted the post about Bonnie Raitt's newest CD. I agree with you, David, in that it's better than the last two, but still not as good as her better ones. I also agree with your finding Springsteen's latest to be wanting, as well. Fun day of Saturday listening, though!
I remember those B-sides, very hot item in the record store where I worked. I look forward to someday having my opinion changed. Now, if only we can work on that obstinate person who doesn't like the Beatles... :)
Well, with new music that reaches back into my youth, it's easy for me to have a knee-jerk reaction against it (Oasis coming to mind), but I often learn to dial down my defenses and appreciate it as a new work. But the Carpenters, et al. were a favorite punching bag for many in my crew, as well, so I can see where maybe some people would be put off by a modern take. Besides, Michael's a young dude
12-string Guitar: Abdul Abulbul Amir
When I was at college and was learning to play the guitar, a friend had a book of songs which included this amusing tale. When he left, the book went with him and I was never able to find another with this in it, so I could not sing it again. However last night for no apparent reason, it came to mind and with the facility of the search engine, I have found it. Strangely, though the subject of the ...
Russ hosted a fantastic listening party today, and it really reinforced how much audio loves company! His Zu speakers with the specially modded Fostex tweeters and six (Six!) Velodyne subwoofers and surround panels rocked the new David Lynch and Lambchop releases brought by Dave Clark. Throw in some killer chili and cool vinyl, and you have a perfect Saturday afternoon. Fellow Audio Evoite Pete Davey and Jazz distributor Hajime Soto were all class and panache, while I worked hard as a human sound baffle. Cheers to Russ, just wish there were an Audio Evo commune for more fun like this...
Great new review in Positive Feedback by Pete Davey on setting up a great sounding budget system. Not too wordy, and really helpful: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue59/minisystem.htm. I don't get a kickback from Pete, I just liked and thought you might, too! :)
Listening to music, reading AudioEvo on a Saturday morning, as usual! Here's my occasional plea to all of the AE members: Join in! I'd love to read your replies, contributions to previous discussions, or whatever comes to mind about music. I see lots of new members, so don't be shy, nobody on this board bites. And for those who used to post but haven't in awhile, stop in and say hey.
