For over two decades David Gilden has been performing music on the
majestic twenty-one string, kora, a harp-lute from West Africa. After
graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston 1980, Gilden embarked
on his kora studies and has traveled to extensively throughout West Africa.
Dave lived in New York City in the late 80s, During this period he
performed with bansuri bamboo flutist Steve Gorn, collaborated with poet
Ira Cohen and recorded with musician Gabrielle Roth. Dave tracked and mixed at
Manhattan's legendary Sorcerer Sound and RPM studios to complete his
1990 Ancestral Voices CD release. Dave's music has been featured on
syndicated radio programs, Hearts of Space, Musical Starstreams, Echoes,
Totally Wired, and WNYC-FM's New Sounds.
