From upstate NY originally, but have lived in California since 1980. Been into music since early childhood. Started with LPs at age 9!
Was active (VP and Program Coordinator) for the Inland Empire Audio Society in the 80s, as well as a set up assistant for a former TAS reviewer. Worked a little for Hi Fi Heretic Magazine back then too. Wrote regularly for Art Dudley's Listener Magazine and have been with Positive Feedback for several years.

Goofy song, and I normally hate music videos, but there's something about this...

Lou Reed - Street Hassle (complete music video)
video about this amazing rock opera written in 1978 by the best living rock songwriter, the NYC man Lou Reed. The song is divided into three parts (Walzing Matilda, Street Hassle, Slip Away), which have all the same music structure that meets first the orchestra, then acoustic guitars and rock bass guitars, and at the end the prayer of a penitent man, made of tears..
"Love has gone away
Not the best copy of this, but it gets the point across. Great documentary.

Meredith Monk's "Dolmen Music" on the original ECM LP. Certainly not to everyone's taste, but what a wonderful LP. Haven't listened to it in quite a while. If you are at all adventurous, you should check it out.

It was amusing to see the reaction from people at CES when my son played tracks from Rebelution's latest CD, especially tracks like So High from the acoustic disk. The CD was a 3 disk set, on which all three disks had the same 12 tracks, but one disk is the standard release, one is all acoustic and the 3rd is the dub edition. Great music and very well recorded. Rebelution has a lot of new fans from what I could tell.
Finally solved all my music server problems by replacing the apparently too old and slow IBM T42 notebook with a slightly newer but much faster dual-core Dell E1505 (from 2006). Now my asynchronous DACs work in Kernel Streaming or Direct Streaming mode via JRiver Media Center (both 17 and 18) with no problems. Still fits within my parameters of setting up for very little money. The system is sounding glorious!!
Attended a private concert of the band Moraine last night. That's my old school buddy Denns Rea on guitar. It was hosted at the Chrome Hearts warehouse/studio in Hollywood. DVD excerpts from this will be available in the next Chrome Hearts DVD Music sampler along with other bands they've had play for these private gatherings. I believe they are only available in the Chrome Hearts magazine. Anyway, the band was awesome, and they sounded pretty darn inspired considering they were only playing for about 25 people. Moraine has two CDs out. Manifest Density (a studio recording), and Metamorphic Rock, a concert recording of their performance at the 2010 NearFest.
Rick Wakeman, solo piano version of Close to the Edge!
Rick Wakeman - Close to the edge (on piano)
