Greetings to all, It's been a LONG TIME since i last checked in. Just about everything pictured I sent to view is gone. I'm currently to a vintage Linn intek with a pair of Epos ELS-3's. A NAD c440 is doing FM duty. The Linn is on loan and I'm leaning toward a purchase. I do have a Rotel 1070 my wife brought me last Christmas but no dedicated amp at the moment. Happy to see the EVO gang still here. Blessings to all.
A few days ago, I completed a power supply upgrade (designed and sourced from Dan Wright), on my Modwright SWP 9.0 SE phono stage. A substantial improvement on an already very good-sounding component.
On the hunt for a 2-channel preamp with home theater bypass and a good phono stage. Or a A/V Pre-pro with good 2-channel sound. Or some other way to have my 2-channel cake and eat the 7.1 too.
A good friend of mine dropped off a couple of boxes of albums as a gift. Nothing better than discovering an album that somehow eluded you but provides a wonderful hour's entertainment (a couple of stinkers, too, but even they were fun campy audio postcards).
The Cary's are back! And they do sound quite good. They have new (Electro-Harmonix) KT88's in them and a couple replaced pin-sleeves. But my main speakers are now out. I took out the woofers this weekend and sent them off to a guy who claims to be able to replace the surrounds without having to cut away the center of the driver....we'll see. In the meantime, I have pair of ProAc Tablette 50's that will have to fill in. Life is hard , I know. And yes, I try to keep back-ups to my back-ups for all my components.
Long time audio hobbyist that is fairly happy with his system. (Acurus power tri-amping hardwood frame Magnapan MGIIIa's) Into Yamaha Vintage gear and modded Thorens tables. TD160, TD150, and TD125 currently in the stable.
I downsized 8 months ago, still unearthing boxes of records...this weekends listening will be Cassandra Wilson - Blue Skies, Shawn Colvin - Steady On, Stan Rogers - From Fresh Water, Kenny Burrell - Midnite Blue, Roseanne Cash - The List, Stan Getz - Cool Velvet, Cannonball - in SF, Coltrane and Hartman and Eva Cassidy - Songbird....
MIT CABLES FROM A CONVERSION performed on MY OLD TECHNICS TT...WOW WHAT A THRILLIN' SUCCESS!!! Claptons unplugged 180 grm. album is just blowing me back......don't want to leave the Room... I ask myself..."self" what would you be hearing if you had tons of money like most audiophiles??? Claptons stage presence is so dynamic that i heard him drop his pic.....imagine a two-channel back-ground that quite?? Thank you MIT for your marvelous products.....i use your speaker cables exclusively and some interconnects. f.w.Pulley/Sir Frederic
I'm back from the CA Audio Show. Seemed like a smaller show this year, though that might not be fair. I'm usually tied to a room and this year I wasn't. So I got to see every room at the show. I think my favorite was from Audio Image. A very good sound played mostly from vinyl.
Went to hear Ruthie Foster last night, WOW! How have I been missing such an incredible voice. Didn't matter whether it was blues, rock, country, folk or gospel she could do it all. If you haven't heard her you need to. I have not heard any of her recordings yet, but I will soon.
