A good friend of mine dropped off a couple of boxes of albums as a gift. Nothing better than discovering an album that somehow eluded you but provides a wonderful hour's entertainment (a couple of stinkers, too, but even they were fun campy audio postcards).
The Cary's are back! And they do sound quite good. They have new (Electro-Harmonix) KT88's in them and a couple replaced pin-sleeves. But my main speakers are now out. I took out the woofers this weekend and sent them off to a guy who claims to be able to replace the surrounds without having to cut away the center of the driver....we'll see. In the meantime, I have pair of ProAc Tablette 50's that will have to fill in. Life is hard , I know. And yes, I try to keep back-ups to my back-ups for all my components.
Why not come to a show on the East Coast that's growing?
The 2012 Capital Audiofest is set for July 13-15 in the Washington DC area, and will again be at Crown Plaza Hotel but with more of everything so will be bigger and better. More quality playback equipment, listening rooms, display table space, retailers, audio and video manufacturers and live music. If you have not read the rave reviews by Stereophile's own John Atkinson, then please go to the CAF website www.capitalaudiofest.com and link to Stereophile and other great commentary found on the internet. Please contact me if you are interested in rate and room i
I'm back from the CA Audio Show. Seemed like a smaller show this year, though that might not be fair. I'm usually tied to a room and this year I wasn't. So I got to see every room at the show. I think my favorite was from Audio Image. A very good sound played mostly from vinyl.
Anyone know of a good toob based LCR phono that is not stratospherically priced? I an=m scouting for one that will pay my Cleaaudio Concerto, Denon DL 103 pro AND the Koetsu Onyx (original, vintage Long-body version)...
We had some great news come in the mail slot when the latest issue of TAS was delivered: Best Sound of Show at T.H.E. Show Newport Beach by both Robert Harley (Audio Salon Room: MIT/Magico/Spectral/ASC) and Alan Taffel (Audio Salon Room: MIT/Magico/Spectral/ASC). We also shared the Best of Show at the Munich Show by Jonathan Valin (Wilson Sasha/Spectral/MIT Oracle Matrix 120 HD). It feels great
