The Cary's are back! And they do sound quite good. They have new (Electro-Harmonix) KT88's in them and a couple replaced pin-sleeves. But my main speakers are now out. I took out the woofers this weekend and sent them off to a guy who claims to be able to replace the surrounds without having to cut away the center of the driver....we'll see. In the meantime, I have pair of ProAc Tablette 50's that will have to fill in. Life is hard , I know. And yes, I try to keep back-ups to my back-ups for all my components.

It's been repair month for April & May. 1st the Cary's go in the shop; still not out yet. Now the ProAc 200's need new base drivers. The surrounds have rotted out and they flutter & belch like winded Vikings at a feast table. They are old, but fortunately the drivers (Scanspeak - 18W 8542) are available at Madisound. So, I think I can replace them relatively easily, if not inexpensively. Who knew keeping your existing equipment running could be so troublesome? I shouldn't complain. I've had the Cary's for 6 years & the ProAc's for 12 trouble free. They're both due for some TLC....

The song was first performed by the ''Michalis Patrinos rebetiko band'' in Athens, Greece in 1927. . Patrinos, who originally lived in Smyrna, named the song Mısırlı or Misirlou which means specifically a Muslim Egyptian girl, as opposed to Egyptian Christians who were referred to as 'Aigyptioi' in Greek.
Initially, the song was composed as a Greek (Asia Minor) tsifteteli dance, in the rebetiko s ...
